MICE GATHERING 2017/1
Site Turkey Chapter Stays on top of Security and its’ Implications

This year’s first MICE Gathering, organized by Site Turkey Chapter, took place in Radisson Blu Sisli Hotel Istanbul, on Monday, January 23.
90 MICE professionals in Turkey, enjoyed this year’s first major gathering.

The gathering started with Site Turkey Chapter President, Kerim Sipahiler’s welcome speech.  Kerim’s welcome speech was followed by Eda Ozden’s speech.  Eda, who is the board member of Site Turkey Chapter, was the Turkish representative of Site Global, in the Accredited Destination Management Company Conference in Barcelona.  Eda gave the audience a concise summary of the Barcelona Conference.

The gathering consisted of two sessions, concluded by Happy Hour.

January gathering’s theme was security and law.  The first session hosted two speakers; Melih Niyego, Deputy General Manager – Pronet Security Services; Pronet is one of the leading electronic
and security company that offers residential and commercial security solutions in Turkey.  Ilker Unsever, Lawyer and Site Turkey Chapter Member - Unsever Law.
Melih and Ilker discussed and gave insights on security and its measures and its implications on legal issues and contracts, effecting the MICE industry in Turkey.
The audience also had the chance to forward questions and queries regarding new security measures and issues regarding business law, to Pronet and Unsever.

The second session hosted a celebrity speaker, Ali Poyrazoğlu.  Ali is one of Turkey’s leading actors (theatre and cinema) writer and director.  He is also very active in events, product launches and incentive meetings; where he puts on plays.  Ali is in the Turkish theatre and cinema scene for almost 60 years.  He is also UNICEF Turkey Goodwill Ambassador.  His usual funny and cynical style was present in the session, however Ali also touched base on the overall security theme and its implications on the MICE industry and elsewhere in the world.  The audience was intellectually pleased and had the opportunity to think about what can be done differently in the changing global environment.

The closure was the Happy Hour where attendees had the opportunity of networking. The motto of the Happy Hour was; “I don’t work, I network”.
